Statement from the ORU Board of Regents

The Oral Roberts University Board of Regents today granted the request of President Richard Roberts for a leave of absence pending further action of the Board.

“The ORU Board of Regents regrets that the university family has had to endure this situation during recent weeks. We have a deep appreciation for the work that is being done by administration, faculty and staff at ORU. The board is fully committed to supporting the efforts of the independent outside professional firms that will review the allegations and the practices in place at the University and report back to the Board,” said George Pearsons, Chairman of the Board of Regents.

The ORU Board of Regents has named Billy Joe Daugherty as the executive regent to assume administrative responsibilities of the Office of the President. He will be joined by Oral Roberts, chancellor of the University. Billy Joe Daugherty serves as the Senior Pastor of Victory Christian Center in Tulsa.
