ProfileAcademic HighlightsOral Roberts University has faculty full of great and wise professors. They are educators that love what they do, really care about their students and have a visible passion for Jesus. They display the kind of qualities that you would want in a college professor. You want someone to make the subject you are studying, interesting, captivating and even exciting. That’s what a good professor is able to do. A example of this is Dr. Vincent E. Dimiceli. He is an associate professor of mathematics at ORU, and has been teaching here for 14 years. He is passionate about Jesus, serving God, math and his family. He didn’t always want to be a teacher; he originally planned on becoming a engineer, but discovered this new love of teaching while he was trying to get his degree in engineering. He realized he could see himself having a teaching career, educating young minds and enriching them with wisdom for the future. He spent a year teaching math in high school, specializing in geometry and calculus. He also taught and tutored from second grade to college before coming to ORU. When asked which he does he like more, Dr. Dimiceli says he prefers college level teaching. When Vincent isn’t teaching math, he likes to spend his leisure time by reading books, playing games on the internet (like Jewel Quest), and reading to his kids. Family is very important to him, and he and his just celebrated their 20th anniversary. They have two kids, Peter, 9 years old and Emma, 7 years old and loves the time he spends with them. Although they were adopted from different families, both were born in Oklahoma. His walk and love for Jesus is also very important to him. He gave his heart to Jesus at 13 years old while attending church with his sister in 1974. He remembers being filled with the Holy Sprit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues on September 25, 1985. That is a significant memory in his life. Dr. Dimiceli read through the Bible a lot when he was younger and still continues that practice. His childhood wasn’t always easy. He had health problems growing up and had to have kidney dialysis. But God came through, and he received a kidney transplant from his twin brother in June 10, 1981. Dr. Dimiceli has gone through some difficult and rough times in his life and his faith, but he come out of them a stronger man. He is full of life and spirit because of all the great things God has done with him. You could say his life is a living testimony to what God can do in someone. He didn’t always know what God was doing but he fully trusted him and kept his faith strong. God has truly blessed Dr. Dimiceli. And he wants to bless the students he teaches with his zest for life and passion for making math fun and fresh. And looks like he’s doing a great job.
