Adjunct Faculty - Dance

Status

ORU offers a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance degree.  We are currently looking for highly qualified Dance Adjunct Faculty. 

Candidates must have the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas:

(Ballet emphasis) beginning through pre-professional level ballet technique, intermediate to advanced pointe, choreography, dance forms (world dance and/or social dance forms), dance history, pedagogy, improvisation, dance for worship, restaging of classical and/or choreographing contemporary ballet repertoire for ensemble.

(Modern emphasis) beginning through pre-professional modern technique, choreography, dance forms (world dance and/or social dance forms), dance history, pedagogy, improvisation, dance for worship, and choreographing new work for ensemble.

Assistant or Associate Professor for Department of Music

Full-time

Instrumental Conductor

The Oral Roberts University Department of Music is accepting applications for a full-time, tenured track faculty position in Music that begins August 2013.  A doctorate in music is preferred, but qualified, experienced candidates with a Master’s degree will be considered.  Strong Christian commitment and  compatibility with the lifestyle described in the honor code established by the university are essential.  (See https://webapps.oru.edu/slle/code-of-honor-pledge.pdf.)  The faculty member hired for this position would carry out these duties:

• Conduct the wind ensemble and orchestra (approx. 50% of teaching load)
• Dedicate considerable time toward the recruitment of instrumental music majors
• Teach applied lessons and other appropriate music courses according to department need (approx. 50% of teaching load)
• Advise instrumental students majoring in music
• Attend faculty and university-wide meetings and chapel services
• Fulfill other faculty duties listed in the ORU faculty handbook

Assistant Professor - Ballet

Full-time

ORU offers a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance degree.  We are currently looking for a highly qualified full time Dance faculty member for 2013-2014 to begin teaching August of 2013. 

Candidates must have the ability to teach in a multitude of the following areas with specialized excellence in teaching ballet/pointe technique, restaging classical works, and choreographing new contemporary works for concerts:

(Ballet emphasis) beginning through pre-professional level ballet technique, pointe, choreography, modern dance, dance forms (world dance and/or social dance forms), dance history, pedagogy, improvisation, dance for worship, restaging of classical repertoire and choreographing contemporary and/or classical ballet for concert.

Qualifications: M.F.A. degree in Dance and an established record of professional experience in the field or equivalence in professional experience in the field.

The Communication, Arts and Media Department of Oral Roberts University invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment effective August 2013.  Rank is commensurate with education.

Primary Duties
The successful candidate will:
•  Teach classes in Scenic Design, Lighting Design and Technical Theatre
•  Advise and mentor undergraduate theatre students;
•  Guide the development of theatre curriculum;
•  Design the sets and lighting for 4 major productions per school year;
•  Be involved in university activities such as faculty meetings, committee meetings, retreats, and chapel services;
•  Embrace a whole-person commitment as articulated in the University’s Code of Honor.


Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
•  Hold a MFA in Theatre as required or extensive professional experience will be considered. 
•  Be innovative and successful in teaching design and theatre technology on a collegiate level 
•  Demonstrate integrated faith in the classroom, church and community.
