President and General Manager

Full-time

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Provide strategic leadership of GEB/KGEB America.

REPORTS TO:  Executive Vice President for University Advancement

DIRECT SUPERVISION: 
VP Sales & Marketing
Director of Engineering
Business Coordinator

INDIRECT SUPERVISION: 
Lighting Director, Audio Engineer, Producer, Program Director,      Traffic Manager, Traffic Assistant, Chief Master Control Operator, Master Control Operators and others as necessary.

SCOPE: 
GEB America’s President and General Manager is the Chief Operating Officer at the media distribution platform and television station and network. All departments report directly to the President/GM.

The President/GM sets the work ethic, tone and pace of the station/network.  They will predict market trends; set budgets and performance expectations; ensure the station is in compliance with all equal employment opportunity (EEO) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirements; and have overall responsibility for maintaining the station’s reputation and market image.

The President/GM has final say on station/network hires and keeps both on-air and behind-the-scenes talent in step with overall station directives. They create a clear vision for the station and the blueprints for success that every staffer is expected to follow.

The bottom line stops with the President/GM, who is charged with growing the station’s profitability. Advertising and airtime sales revenue is crucial to a television station’s financial security and, as a result, relationship-building with programmers, advertisers and potential advertisers is a significant area of the President/GM responsibilities. The President/GM is heavily involved in the station’s sales efforts and is generally expected to participate in sales presentations along with members of the sales staff.  The President/GM must find creative ways to profit and succeed despite obstacles.

Every television station cultivates its own public image, based on its local market and community needs. As a result, the President/GM is committed to involving the station in community events and public affairs. Television stations and Networks are visible leaders in their markets, and many leaders choose to deliver on-air editorials to voice opinions about community issues at large.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The President/GM oversees the General Administration
• Billing, credit, collections and reporting.
• All hiring, human resource and personnel issues that may arise.
• Responsible for the overall budget for the station/network.
• Organizational development of personnel and systems
• Compliance issues

The President/GM oversees Operations
• GEB America (a satellite network) with a signal covering: North America with two transponder links targeting broadcast, cable and internet markets with 24 hours a day of content delivery.
• KGEB (full power commercial television station) covering Tulsa, Oklahoma and surrounding communities.
• Manages the overall engineering scope for the station and networks to include master control and technology enhancements.
• Evaluates programming for compliance relating to the P.I.O. status.
• Lead efforts for the creation of technology platforms.

The President/GM oversees Sales
• Responsible to build relationships with programmers, advertisers and potential advertisers, sponsors and potential sponsors. 
• Participate in sales presentations along with members of the sales staff as  needed
• Works with the sales and marketing teams to drive revenues to meet and sustain revenue goals.

The President/GM oversees Marketing
• Maintaining the station’s reputation and market image
• Be committed to involving the station in community events and public affairs.
• Oversee the transition of the network and station from Golden Eagle Broadcasting to GEB America.
• On air and off air promotions
• Print, web and social media marketing
• Engagement and participations in trade and lobbying organizations

The President/GM oversees Production & Programming
• Looks for ways to help programmers produce content at a professional level
• Original programming design, acquisition and development
• Develop ministry relations for promotional and program partnerships.

The President/GM oversees Distribution
• Directs the distribution of Channel to broadcast stations, multiple system operators, individual cable platforms and satellite services
• Increase market share penetration via distribution
• Setting and achieving year to year growth goals.

 
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor Degree Required
• 10-15 years experience in broadcast and/or TV network management and TV network platform development
• Required to maintain full-time office responsibilities in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Senior Lighting Director/Video Engineer - University Broadcasting Inc./GEB America

Full-time

Assist the Director of Engineering in providing technical expertise in the areas of video engineering and lighting for all University Broadcasting, Inc (UBI)/ GEB America television productions.

Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in related field such as TV or Film emphasis, or Electronics.  Prefer three years of TV production experience as a video engineer with experience in lighting. Supervisory experience over production crews is preferred.  Electronics experience as applied to TV Broadcast preferred.  Requires good math, computer, grammar, communication, and organizational skills.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS will include but not be limited to: 
Sitting; standing; stooping; walking; crawling and/or kneeling; minimal running and jumping/throwing; pushing and/or pulling cable through trays and ropes; repetitive motions; extending hand(s) and/or arm(s); seizing, holding, grasping, or turning hands; balancing; lifting or carrying51 lbs or more of lights, peds, jib weight, large TV lights, cables; climbing or ladders or scaffolds; good hearing, near, color, depth vision.

Hours are typically 8 AM to 5 PM. Usually, Monday through Friday, but occasional weekends.  Start & Stop time can vary depending on client productions, maintenance needs, etc.
