Library Guide:  How to Find Books and eBooks

When searching a database, limit your search results to Book Review, if the option is available in the database. Or, type book review and the title and/or author in the search fields.

In SocINDEX with Full Text, Social Work Abstracts, Academic Search Premier or other EBSCO database, in Advanced Search limit to Book Review for the Document Type.

Enter the author or title of the book in the text box. (Use quotation marks to search the title as a phrase.) Or, simply do a keyword search.

Each record in the result list will have the field Document Type: Book Review.

ORU's A-to-Z Journals List includes links to all journal titles in various formats, including full-text online, paper, CD-ROM or microform.

• To see if a journal title is available in the ORU Library do a Title Search with the title name, publisher name, or ISSN. When a title is available in paper, CD-ROM or microform only, or when the online version does not provide the issue you need, use the link, Oral Roberts University Library Holdings. This will take you to the title in the library catalog where you may check the subscription summary to see the dates/issues held. 
• Select a subject set in the A-to-Z Journal List, such as those listed below, to browse social work related journal titles available at ORU.

On the ECO page, click Browse Journal Titles and then, from the All Subject Collections, select a category under Psychology [BF] or Social Sciences: Sociology [HM-HX]. Begin browsing.

In the GPO database, which provides access to U.S. government publications, do a search for a social work-related topic such as social work with children.
