Welcome to the LIBBI pages!

Library Instructional Lab LIBBIs, or Library student workshops, are designed to help you be a successful student, who also develops lifelong information literacy skills--the ability to define, retrieve, evaluate and use information ethically and legally. Learn to find, manage and optimize information.

LIBBIs cover research essentials using ORU Library resources and services and are intended to support your research efforts. There are proficiency workshops, course and subject related workshops, and workshops covering various topics, resources and/or skills.

Most LIBBIs are 50 or 30 minute sessions; Composition 102 and 303 LIBBIs are 1 hour and 15 minutes. To attend a LIBBI you just sign up, and then show up on time in LIL. Use the tabs above to view the schedules and details. Additional sessions may be listed on the sign-up pages in Vision.

Location: Library Instructional Lab (LIL), LRC-4th floor behind the bound periodicals area.
Who Can Attend: Some LIBBIs are optional and open to all students, while others are restricted to and/or a requirement of a course. For example, LIBBI-499ILL is an optional workshop available to all senior paper students while LIBBI-102COM Parts 1 and 2 are two required sessions for Composition 102 students.
Sign-Up: You sign up in VISION. See the Sign-up Instructions tab (above). Sign-up will be possible up to 30 minutes prior to the session. Note: Once you are signed up, if you need to change to a different date and time, just sign-up for a different session and your name is automatically moved from the previous session to the new one.

Attention! LIL is equipped with computers so that each participant will have hands-on training. Space is limited to 30 students in each workshop, or LIBBI, so sign up early. Once a session is filled it will be greyed out from the list on the Vision sign-up page. Workshops begin promptly. Have your NOVELL login and make sure it works prior to attending the LIBBI session. Composition 102 and 303 students also need their D2L login.

Please inquire at the Reference Desk, LRC-4th floor, or call 918.495.6887 if you have any questions
